Mortgage firm for home purchase up 16.5% in June

The signing of new mortgages for the purchase of a home increased by 16.5% in June compared to the previous year and reached 29,516 contracts, 37.8% of which were set at fixed rate, according to data it has published the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The average amount of a mortgage for the purchase of housing was 116,629 euros at the end of that month, which represents an increase of 4.4% compared to the same period of 2016 and 2.6% more than the previous month.
In total, capital borrowed in the financial system during the month of June to acquire a home in Spain reached 3,442.4 million euros, 21.6% more than a year earlier and 4.4% more than in May .
In addition, mortgages made up of housing accounted for 64.4% of the total capital borrowed in the month for any purpose.
